I'm hesitant to buy this because of all of Lucas's changes. I don't want to feed the Lucas monster I suppose. Not that his loss of one sale will make a difference...
My biggest gripe is when the changes don't make sense AT ALL.
The idea of putting Hayden Christenson in Sebastian Shaw's place during the "Jedi Spirits" scene at the end of RoTJ is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard. To Luke's eyes Anakin was a much older man. If they were going to do that, then they should have had Alec Guiness replaced by Ewan McGregor...and a young Yoda. It's just consistencey you know? I don't have any huge issues with the added footage of Han and Jabba the Hutt in 'ANH' and Ian McDiarmid as the Emporer in ESB.
I still think that, like LoTR they should have given a choice to the consumer as to whether they want the original Theatrical releases or the 'Doctored' added footage Releases, which I was all for with LoTR BTW..Those stories are so long and having the added footage is superb in that case.

POOH, they changed Anakin at the end because Lucas felt that his spirit should reflect the 'good' Anakin, which ended when he was young. Obi-Wan and Yoda were never corrupted, so their spirits were old.
Not to mention the fact that when Anakin was that old, his body did not even exist.

Anybody think that maybe Anakin dies young? These prequels are all about the clone wars and based on Lucas approved storylines even the Emporer is cloned.
Perhaps he is killed and the Emporer revives and keeps him alive (more machine now than man) and his youthful spirit isn't released until the contraption that holds it dies.
A long shot... but who knows.
No point in griping until EPIII comes out and we find out what happens.
And nobody has ever said that only Luke can see the spirits...

I imagine there will be very few Tilogy fans who will skip on the DVDs no matter how they feel about the new footage and the spiced up versions will have more appeal to the youngins'.
No dont agree with all the changes, but definetly will get it for the digital display and sound. I only hope down the road there isnt another version with this and that, like they do with so many other films.
You know, I'm now over with critisizing Lucas for the changes he made to the original tri. Why? Because I have a son, and for him it will make sense when he'll watch all the movies. Lucas made us happy when we were kids and we would have like for him and for his trilogy to age with us but he stuck to the kids. In a sense it's sad but onthe other end I eally accept it now.
I can't wait to watch this release with my son. Cause I already have the original version on tape but they're in english and my son doesn't speak english. i can't wait to watch the first tri with him.
